Sharapova totally lost it, as she let Safina come back 5-1 down in the 3rd set to upset with a 7-5, 2-6, 7-5 comeback victory. Mauresmo also fell to 17-year-old Nicole Vaidisova 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-2, not her first time being upset here in Roland Garros. Venus was able to get through beating Patty Schnyder 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
